Happy Birthday, Andy

Andys SurgeryWhen he was two years old, Andy, our son, had heart surgery. After his surgery to fix his aorta so his blood would flow correctly, Andy didn’t respond as he was should have.  I remember on the third day after his surgery going around the corner and, finally, laying him in the Lord’s hands and asking God to care for him.  Praying God’s will be done even if it meant taking Andy home to live with Him.  Yet praying that if He kept Andy in this world with us it would be because He knew that Andy would live to honor Him with his life.  Then for the first time after his surgery, I had peace. Later that day, Andy was taken into emergency surgery because there was air in his abdomen.  The doctor was unsure what the cause was.  Once that surgery was completed and the problem found and fixed, Andy began to get well and was home within the week.  He has been healthy ever since.

There were times when I wondered whether he would honor God with his life.  Many prayers were lifted for him.  God is faithful and uses all our experiences to share His love and mercy with others.  Andy is serving the Lord faithfully along with his wonderful wife, Kathryn.  God is honored and Jesus Christ is lifted up daily.  I am awed at all God has done.

Today is his birthday and I know God will continue to use Andy to lead others to know God and follow Jesus in their lives.  May His fruit be multiplied in you and Kathryn, your sons Chris and Tyler, throughout all your days.
