First Car

When Stephen was graduating from high school and getting ready to go to college, we had to tell him that we weren’t able to help him buy a car like we did his brothers due to financial changes in our situation.  He had the best attitude and said, “That is alright.  I’ll ride home with Dan for the holidays and I don’t need a car at College Station anyway.”  God had other ideas.

The morning after his graduation all-night party sponsored by the parents/school I looked out in the drive and saw this car I’d never seen.  I didn’t see the car he had driven to the graduation!  I woke him up and asked him where his dad’s car was and he said, “It’s still at the convention center.  They gave a used car away last night and I won it!”  He drove that old Ford for 1 1/2 years before we were able one Christmas to help him buy the truck he wanted.

I just told him: Your daddy couldn’t buy you a car, so your Father gave you one!  We didn’t even ask, God just gave it to him.  What a God we serve!
