NARROW PASSAGES

Greece and Rome 040We were told the reason the people of Mykonos made their passageways so narrow was to discourage the pirates that raided the islands from entering their cities.  Since they didn’t know their way out, the pirates wouldn’t follow the natives into these streets as they could easily get lost.  This saved many lives of the Greek islanders.  In much the same way, Jesus said that we are to enter by the narrow way for the way to destruction is broad.  It is easy to follow the path of least resistance and lose our lives in the process.  It is more difficult, at first at least, to follow the narrow way which goes against the current of the times. However, Jesus promised life only to those who are willing to follow the narrow way and enter into the abundance He has in store for us.   Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.  For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life and few are those who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14; John 14:6.
