Paul wrote to refute false teachings pertaining to who Christ is in Colossians 1:15-23.  Paul affirmed four things about Jesus’ identity and authority:  1) Jesus is God v. 15 Jesus is the image, exact representation, of the invisible God;  2) Jesus is Creator and Sustainer of all creation v. 16-17 For by Jesus all things were created. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together; 3) Jesus is the Head of the church, His new creation v. 18 He is the first born from the dead; and 4) Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer v. 19-23 It was God’s pleasure that all His fullness dwell in Christ and through Him to reconcile all things unto Himself.  (Paraphrased from Our Daily Bread, January 25, 2020.)

I have been thinking about this much lately.  People want to say that all religions are just man made ideas of how to live forever somewhere.  These ideas are based on man’s own goodness and merit.  Indeed, that is the case with all religions except the Christian faith.  No man would ever conceive of a religion based on God becoming man.  A Savior God who would willingly take on our sin on the cross and give us His righteousness when we trust on Him is too much for man’s ability to conceive.  Yet that is exactly what happened.

There is no God like our God and no Savior like our Savior Jesus Christ.   May we proclaim Him to the world.  God the Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit the awesome three in One.  I hope you know Him.
