Christmas is the time to think again of the coming of Jesus Christ into the world and why He came. There are four reasons given in the Word of God, the Holy Bible, for the entrance of the Messiah into the physical world He created .
First, He came to “seek and to save those who are lost.” Jesus said in Luke 19:10. All of humanity was lost in their sin with no true means of finding forgiveness and cleansing. Jesus came to provide that way through the living a perfect human experience, dying a painful and cruel death by those who hated the truth He spoke, being buried, and gloriously resurected as He had said He would. He them spent 40 days with the apostles and disciples teaching them Himself and giving them their life’s mission. He came knowing the agony Je would face as men lied about Him, beat Him, and finally, crucifying Him. He knew men would revile, hate, and try to destroy Him. Yet, HE CAME.
Second, He came to “give life and life more abundantly.” Jesus told the people in John 10:10. He came to give us a life filled with His peace, love, and joy no matter the circumstances of our lives. He is with us and in us through His Holy Spirit. He gives us much assurance of our forgiveness and the righteousness He gives us when we follow Him. When we trust Him and obey His will for us, we walk in communion with Him. He bears our burdens and gives whatever strength we need to know joy and peace. We have hope for all our future. Because He always gives His best to us as we follow. He also gives us power to choose not to continue in the sins we love so much. We can live in freedom and victory as we seek Him. Because HE loves us so much, HE CAME.
Third, Jesu came to take our sin upon Himself so that we may through faith in Him be forgiven all our sins and be made righteous in Him. “”God made Him Who knew no sin be sin on our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. On the cross, Jesus took all of the Father’s wrath on Himself for our sin so that we might be saved from the wrath of God. Romans 5:8-10 explains this in detail. Because Jesus was willing to die for us and take our punishment upon His shoulders, now raised, He can give us a life of forgiveness and grace. We are free to say no to our sins and accept God’s gracious gift of life through Jesus Christ, His Son. We can have the assuPrance that we are His children and fellow heirs with Christ. Romans 8:17. Knowing the price He would pay and doing what was needed to save those who believe in Him. Still, HE CAME!
Fourth reason Jesus came was to glorify the Father. Jesus said in His prayer in John 17:9-10, “Father, I have glorified you on the earth having accomplished the work You have given me to do. Now, Father, glorify Me, together with Yourself, with the glory I had with You before the world was.” Throughout His ministry Jesus pointed to His relationship with the Father and glorified the Father through His obedience to Him. How can He love us so much when we so often disrespect and disobey His will for our lives. Always ready to forgive when we ask and empower us to live as Jesus did. Even taking on such physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering, HE CAME.
There is so much more to say through the Scripture. All the prophecies fulfilled in Jesus, His life, death, burial, and resurrection. I pray all my friends and readers know His love and life personally. I pray you will allow Him to come into your life as Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10.
I personally am so glad HE CAME.
